ISMCs Summit will be conducted online

BACKGROUND

COVID-19 pandemic has posed new challenges in front of the humankind. These challenges ranged from social, political, and economical to the survival of humankind. At the outbreak of COVID-19, we were forced to confine our self almost in the home. The very basic concept of ‘human-beings are social animal’ seemed to be jeopardised. But, we human ‘being the best creation of God/nature’ proved once again. In this span of time, we not only fought for our survival but also found with adopting new ways and means of daily activities and transforming the medium of functioning.

With this in view the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Leadership, Policy and Governance (ABVCLPG) under the aegis of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi welcomes such contributions that can help in relating the real-life problems and its solutions.

OBJECTIVE

This case summit aims at recognising such contributions which helped to overcome the difficulties put forth by COVID-19 pandemic. The focus of the summit is to highlight our indigenous techniques commonly known as “JUGAAD” technology and management system which can tackle the existing problem in a cost-effective and efficient manner. This summit will also help the participant to develop/sharpen the case writing skill through the dedicated workshop.

Participants can submit their case under below mentioned case domains. These domains are just indicative.

CASE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. Submitted cases should be original and written in English and easy to comprehend.
  2. Cases can be based on primary research in the form of interviews, focus groups, surveys and participant observation, real business problems and situations. Secondary research-based cases with proper references throughout the document are also be accepted.
  3. All submission made should be strictly in Microsoft Word format (.doc/docx). The portal for online submission of the document can be assessed here https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ismcs2021. The cases must be formatted as per the submission template available at the summit’s website.
  4. Summit related correspondence must be addressed to the summit secretariat through email (ismc2021@iimranchi.ac.in).
  5. An abstract of your case no more than 300 words should be submitted by the date mentioned in the schedule given below.
  6. Cases should be written in the past tense as the incidents have already happened. Industry notes and teaching notes (if required) may be written either in the present tense or in the past tense, as deemed appropriate.
  7. Use Times New Roman 12 font size with single spacing for the body text of the case and teaching note (if required).
  8. Case and teaching note (if required) should not use terms that are denigrating to ethnic or other groups or that may be interpreted as such.

GUIDELINES FOR CASE STUDY AND TEACHING NOTE

All submissions should follow the submission guidelines. Non-conforming submissions will be returned without review.

Your case should include the following:

  1. The first page should include the Case Title, the Case Study Domain, and Author Details with contact numbers and email id.
  2. The second page must have an Executive Summary/Case Abstract within 300 words.
  3. The length of the full case should be 10-20 (maximum) pages. This limit includes the abstract, body of the text, notes, and exhibits. The case should include the following headings:
    • Case Abstract-Including
    • Case Objective; Functional areas where the case is used and Keywords (5-7).
    • Case Introduction-Brief History, Main Issues.
    • Main Body-Past and current business performance, conflicts, decision alternatives etc
    • A closing section
  4. An addendum of exhibits: Providing support information such as tables, figures, and graphs.
  5. Citations and sources of information.

The Teaching Note should include the following (optional/if required):

  1. Length of the teaching note should be 5-10 pages (maximum)
  2. Case synopsis
  3. Learning objectives
  4. Assignment questions
  5. Teaching plan
  6. Analysis (suggested/possible answers to assignment questions)
  7. Bibliography/suggested readings
  8. Teaching note Exhibits (e.g., financial analysis, a summary of theory application)

Policy

Note: In case the situation due to COVID-19 doesn’t improve, all the sessions shall be managed via video presentation and virtual interactions (i.e., online mode). The decision on the same will be conveyed to the participants before the registration opens (May 05, 2021).
